Rotaract is an international organization of service clubs for men and women aged 18-30 that cultivates leadership and responsible citizenship, encourages high ethical standards in business and promotes international understanding and peace.
Rotaract is a program of Rotary International and takes its name from a combination of the words Rotary and action. The Rotaract Club of Saskatoon is a group of young students and professionals in Saskatoon. It was chartered in 1998, as a service project of the Rotary Club of Saskatoon. The club has regular meetings that feature speakers from all sectors of the community and various professional development activities.
To increase club awareness and raise funds for local community projects, Rotaract collaborates with the five Rotary Clubs in Saskatoon and has initiated unique projects on its own including Rotaract's Operation Red Nose, where club members provide a safe ride for guests to and home from company year-end parties.
Some of the organizations that Rotaract has supported, either financially or by volunteering, are Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Saskatoon Food Bank, Kids Help Phone, 24-Hour Relay for Life, Camp Easter Seal, Saskatoon IDA Project and the McNab Park Scouts initiative.
While the Rotaract Club of Saskatoon is made up of many young individuals who have chosen to pursue their careers in Saskatchewan, the club recognizes a need to promote our province as a great place to find success. My Future is Here (MyFiH), an iniatitive of the Rotary Youth Foundation is an awareness campaign encouraging youth (ages 18-34) to consider the benefits of continuing their education and starting their careers in Saskatchewan. Sponsored business start-up capital grant and scholarship applications are available on their new website at www.myfutureishere.ca, as well as information about a variety of other programs offered in Saskatchewan for youth.
